CHALK AND CHARCOAL DRAWING CLASS + OUTSIDE

Saturday 15th June – a day workshop drawing studio and outside 10.30am-4pm

CHARCOAL AND CHALK – studio and outside class.

Learn about this most ancient of materials, mark making, consider tonal value, form and texture.
Look at the work of well known landscape artists to consider composition, the rule of 1/3s and principal of golden section – Fibonacci spiral in composition – using a view finder to select a landscape to draw. Van Gogh, Turner, John Nash – monochrome works, spend a couple of hours in the studio developing process and technique – then out on the Tarka Trail to develop an en plein air drawing (weather permitting!). Learn about this most ancient of materials, mark making, consider tonal value, form and texture.

Materials needed (not provided): willow charcoal sticks and white chalk (school black board chalk good) , soft eraser, paper A3 heavy cartridge sheets or sketchbook – any coloured / pastel texture paper / sugar paper –  if you do not have a hard back sketchbook do bring a board to lean on working outside, £20 material pack and extra materials available to buy on the day.

A one day workshop – £65 10.30am- 4pm, tea and coffee available for small donation – do bring lunch – there will be a lunch break from 1pm-2pm.
